Talent continues to be a top priority for companies, but today the opportunities and challenges in managing talent require an alliance with firms that are adept at strategic alignment, globalization, executive development, pay, succession, and measuring the ROI on human capital expenditures and investments through better data and analytics.
To help companies address these challenges, I established RAF Capital, which makes strategic investments in HR-related businesses. We invest in companies that we believe will really make a difference to their clients in today's global talent market. In addition to investing in such businesses, we oversee and work with each of our portfolio companies to develop business, market, financial, and organization strategies. We also provide operational assistance, as needed, to help them become leading, world class enterprises. Finally, we find ways in which our portfolio companies can work together to deliver value for clients and customers, while at the same time, enhancing the value of our own portfolio.
FARIENT ADVISORS is a core investment in the RAF Capital portfolio. We founded and built Farient because there is a growing need for a new delivery model for providing executive compensation advice to corporate boards. Today's boards and their compensation committees face greater scrutiny than ever before and increasingly complex challenges, and they need advisors who can go beyond the "data" in their narrow area of expertise to provide broad and deep strategic advice on executive pay.
FARIENT is an independent executive compensation and performance advisory firm that provides performance-sensitive and defensible advice on executive pay. Farient is uniquely designed to meet the ongoing and increasingly complex needs of compensation committees. Farient does so with a combination of people who adhere to exacting analytical and process standards, technology platforms that help ensure the delivery of high-integrity services year in and year out, and our own governance standards and policies. We have built Farient from the ground up to specifically address the needs of corporate boards and their compensation committees in today's highly complex environment.
I am the Executive Chair of Farient Advisors. With 25 years of experience in global strategy, performance measurement and executive compensation consulting, and having served as both a board director and line executive, I am confident that Farient will deliver to the highest standards of service in the industry. My experience as President of the human capital business for Mercer, as chairman of the U.S. West Region for Marsh & McLennan Companies, and as President and Chairman of SCA Consulting affords me deep understanding of the needs of corporate boards and the businesses they oversee. In turn, I have built this understanding into the "DNA" of Farient Advisors.
